Marlborough 2 Barton 1
Robbo 1
Elliot 1
The last game of the season today (sat) and all hoping to end the season on a high.Todays opponents,Barton Rovers have not lost a game this year so we knew we would be in for a close game.
The lads started off well, playing some good attacking football and got the early goal,a good marlborough move resulted in Naz crossing the ball into the box to find Robbo who slotted it into the net.Barton replied ten minutes later with a well taken header, the game was end to end and both defences were busy,a really pleasing aspect of the game today was our defences ability to work together and keep leaving the Barton forwards offside.
The second half Elliot went up front for Charlie who worked his socks off first half along with Robbo who came off for Fergie.Barton had the strong wind behind them this half and the Marlborough lads Knew they would have to keep the ball down and get the passing game going.we continued to play some good attacking football and Elliot who was enjoying his role as striker latched onto a through ball and use his pace and strength to beat two Barton defenders and slot it past the goalie into the net.Barton then had a ten minute spell where they had us on the back foot but our defensive play today was excellent,Maza in goal never seems to miss a catch,Will,Connor,Joe evans and Oscar who came on for Joe,dealt well with anything that came there way and yes, they were even heading the ball,Lewis and the midfield were also assisting when needed.Charlie and Robbo came on for the last ten minutes and both nearly scored,Charlie hitting the post and Robbo whod gone clean through putting his shot just wide.Barton nearly scored right near the end but Maza pulled off a great fingertip save to push it round the post.So a 2-1 win today and a great game of football, well done lads,Andy
mom-Ollie Coe,a number of players could have got it today but Andy Evans gave it to ollie for his overall performances this season.
So the season has finished(all to soon)and moving up to 11 a-side Sunday football next season.Doesnt seem five minutes since we were playing u8s football at Marstons, its great to see the lads who played for me at u8s developing into excellent footballers and the lads that have come into the team in previous seasons and this season have all been great additions to the team.Well done all of you
