MARLBOROUGH 3 EDGE HILL RED 3
This game was switched to Westfields due to the ground conditions at Moira hopefully we will have sufficient heatwaves between now and the 13 April to enable our final game of the season to take place at Moira. Anyway thanks to the edge hill parents and players for their co operation in forming a convoy from Moira to Ashby with the ref to ensure that the game took place today.
So the clocks went forward last night but we spent the first half well and truely in bed despite taking an early lead and Edge hill more than deserved their half time lead 2-1 . The less said the better . However the big advantage of playing at Westfields is you can take the players into the changing room and CLOSE THE DOOR. !!
We had a friendly type of chat as you do in these type of situations and then we began the second half as if we were reincarnated - What a response - effort , passing , movement and not surprisingly we overwhelmed edge hill for 15 minutes and scored 2 goals to put us in front. Edge hill showed tremendous spirit and without doubt if they played like this every week they would be much higher in the table but i am not really the right person to say that as i have enough problems getting consistency from my team. Anyway this turned into a fantastic game of football and even the ref had to come off for refreshment. Edge hill got a goal back from a break and although we had chance in the last minute which hit the post and rolled along the line it would have been cruel on them. However it was enjoyable to watch and whatever the outcome i was delighted with the response in the second half. I understand that after years of playing important games right to the end of the season this season we are not in contention and therefore you might drop off your effort but today in the second half hopefully we saw the level of spirit needed for next season to challenge again. Two excellent performances from Lewis Price playing at centre back and Nathan Woolley who is establishing himself as one of our key players .
Scorers - Lewis Price , Nathan Woolley , Shayak Miah
Man of the Match - Lewis Price
